Blog Candy to say 'Merci'!

Hooray! I finally got to attend my local monthly stamp club (hi girls!) yesterday for the first time this year due to 'life' getting in the way. ;o) This was the first time that I brought my 8yr old dd who just loved it and promptly told me on the way home that she would like to come for the rest of the year and the years after that!? How's that for the seal of approval. She also was able to complete nearly three cards with minimal work needed to have them ready to send.

In comparison , this is the only card that I ended up completing as the social aspect of catching up took hold over me. ;o) (Though I do have a new card technique that I was able to get the instructions for so will aim to have one posted in the next week.) This was the first time I have used this set which was one of the exclusive SAB sets. The butterfly I cut out with a scalpel (need to work on that for a better finish as the antennae were quite tricky), bent the wings and then popped up for a more dimensional effect. And I couldn't have a butterfly without some bling.

Now for some exciting news - I have some blog candy to celebrate your time visiting and commenting on my blog. As a follow up to my previous post about giving (and the positive response I got), leave a comment on this post and let us know what is the most memorable RAK you have given or have received. In sharing these ideas and stories we can encourage each other to go and bless more of those around us. Each individual idea/story posted will give you one entry. I will then choose a winner randomly and perhaps even a few minor prizes depending on the response. To get an extra entry - post a link to my blog candy on your own blog (let me know by way of comment on this post). Entries will close Sunday 11th April (Australian EST) and winners will be drawn and posted on Monday the 12th of April.

I look forward to hearing your ideas. Good Luck and thanks for visiting!

Recipe:

Hey! I have seen you on a few blogs! How are things "down under"?? LOL By the way...Cool Whip is whip cream that comes in a tub usually in the freezer section. I'm not sure if it's "real" whip cream or the fake stuff...Hope this helps! I noticed your comment on Judy's blog!
Have a great day!

If you can't find Cool Whip, you could substitute whipped cream, I bet! Would be heavier though -- Cool Whip is very light.

Well, let's see, my favorite RAK I have gotten is a giraffe card made by Mothermark (SCS). She knows I collect giraffes and made this incredible card last Saturday. I will be posting it on my blog tomorrow! I couldn't believe she sent it to me - it is so creative!! And what a lot of work she put into it!

Hello! My most memorable RAK was the first one I ever got. It was a sheet of clear stamps that I could use on my scrapbooks. I couldn't belive that a total stranger would actually be nice enough to send me something so wonderful! I love those stamps!!! They are the first clear ones I ever used and I will always cherish them!!

Thanks!
Cheryl

Such a beautiful spring card!!! I would say the most memorable RAK I have ever received came from Keri Sereika (such a sweetheart!) and consisted of a beautiful card and two Inky Antics stamps!!! Totally out of the blue and definitely appreciated!

Hello Nardi

This is such a wonderful idea! BTW when is your stamping group? and can they take new members? wink wink!

now let me think...RAKS.....hmmmmm

my favourite RAKs are those that come completely out of the blue right when they are needed. A simple card, or some crafty stuff or just a phone call.

BTW you are linked on my blog!

Oh actually one of the nicest RAKs I have received was a simple text message I received from a friend who doesn't normally text me. It simply said "thinking of you and praying you have a wonderful day!". It was beautiful, came right at a moment I needed it!

Nardi,

You did a fab job on the butterfly! I like it and I'm off to try one...minus the scalpel, I'm more likely to slice my fingers off.

My first RAK is probably also the most memorable. I knew it was a stamp from Justjohanna, but besides that there were also 4 cards included. As a beginning cardmaker I was very happy with that and I could learn a lot of these examples.
Thanks for a chance to win this candy!

My most memorable RAK was a $25 gift card to Hobby Lobby, our local craft store. I had organized a big fund raiser for our son's soccer team and the other parents all chipped in to surprise me with this gift. It was so thoughtful.
Have a great day! Remember to always enjoy those little moments with your dd because they grow up soooo fast! :)

All RAKS are so special, but my most memorable one was when I rec'd a beautiful big heart stamp from Julie (out to impress) to congratulate me on starting my own blog! I was so surprised and so excited!! Thanks for the chance to win!

What a pretty card, Nardi! Love the bling... I have a hard time NOT using glitter on butterflies and dragonflies! And I SO understand about being a social butterfly and getting hardly any stamping done at events like that!

My fav RAK was actually a card I got in return as a thank you for a birthday card I sent to someone - it was just so sweet!

I love this card! The simplicity is great!

Hi Nardi, I love your blog. The most memorable RAK I received was just the other day. I have an elderly family member that is ill and a lovely lady on SCS who I had been chatting with surprised me with a RAK to give to my relative in the nursing home. I thought that was so sweet. My relative loved the beautiful hand made card.

Diane (diane860 on SCS)

Wow, you sure are good with a scalpel if you didn't cut off an antennae!!!
It's embarrassing to admit, but I didn't understand what RAK's were up until a week or two ago. We do random acts of kindness to one another at school, but I haven't recieved any in the stamping world....unless of course you include all the wonderful comments that people leave on blogs and galleries...those would count and I do appreciate those.
I haven't got my address posted anywhere, so that would hamper things. LOL Joan

Congratulations on finishing your move! Nothing feels as good as tossing out that last box! Good luck with the unpacking!

The best RAK I received was actually today when my best friend whom I haven't seen for months dropped by! She's been super busy and had business trips here and there, that we never had time to meet. So, when she actually had time to come over and have coffee despite her busy schedule, that was a really nice surprise! :)

a few months ago i reconnected with my BFF from high school/college...we'd parted ways not so amicably and hadn't talked in about 10 years...well, i found her by chance on facebook and we started a conversation that hasn't stopped LOL she mentioned her huge paper collection, her scrapbooking and her interest in card making and i mentioned that i was interested in papercrafting, but that i just didn't know where to start...she said "well, i'll show ya!"

she sent me the most enormous box of paper, stamps, stamped images and ribbons and fibers...not to mention a diary, a bottle of perfume, some tea and a drawer sachet!

she straight up hooked me up--i'll never forget her kindness, she gave me a boot in the a** and i've not stopped, much to my husband's chagrin!

her blog is http://ohmycuppycake.blogspot.com

i owe her, and i'm ever grateful

Very cute card! I wish I would have gotten that SAB set :(

The best RAK I have ever gotten was from Dazzling20 on SCS. I had wished for some Penny Black animal images in the wishRAK group and she sent me a brand new Penny Black duck stamp!

Hi Nardi! Happy to advertise your blog candy draw and did so at http://cardmakingsaga.blogspot.com/2008/04/more-blog-candy.html

What a pretty card! Butterflies are one of my favourite images. I am partial ot dragonflies, too :-)

How lovely to read about people's favourite RAKs! I have received many over the last couple of years but have to agree, the first was th emost memorable. A virtual stamoing froned from Canada encouraged me to take up papercrafting by sending me my first one. She filled up an airmail packet with snips of ribbon, bling, dp samples, and even some stamps! Thanks to Carla, I started making cards and that opened up the whole papercrafting world to me. I'll always be grateful for her kindenss and encouragement.

Hey Nardi! This is an awesome way to keep the giving spirit going! Let's see...my most memorable RAK??? My fist DSS (Divine Secret Sister) on SCS sent my kids a gift in my reveal package. It touched my heart!

I'll post a link to your blog candy on mine.

My most memoriable RAK that I have rec'd is a BOX of beads from my awesome friend VA! It basically launched my beading 'career'....ok obsession! I have now made a ton of beautiful jewelry for my DD, family, and friends!

I love the card, I just got the Merci set myself and haven't used it yet, the butterfly looks great. How cool that you've gotten your DD hooked so young. :)

Hi - have only been a SU demonstrator since mid Feb and only found out what a RAK was then - Since then I have sent out a few as I love to think how hopefully it will brighten their day when they receive it. Or if they are already having a good day, make it great. Lets face it, who doesn't love a sign that someone has them in their thoughts.

Hi Nardi. Glad you liked my paper flowers! I posted some instructions up for how to make them for you. Do let me know if they are easy enough to follow, OK? Thanks!

Love your blog! I just love meeting people all over the world. My favorite RAK -- is actually going in the mail on Monday. I picked 3 friends of mine in a "secret friendship" swap on Splitcoaststampers. I've been collecting goodies for them for 2 months. They know they were nominated but they don't know by who! It's been so much fun!!!!

Just recently one of the wonderful gals on SCS sent me the SAB rubons. KristiK read on the PIF thread that I wanted to trade for some since hubby is on unemployment and I just couldn't do a SAB order.
She earned some at her workshop and just sent them to me!
Thanks,
~Lisa
